Acacia Diversified Holdings, Inc. is fortunate to have the expertise of an experienced business veteran as its CEO. Mr. Pertile brings to the position all the leadership qualities, skills, and experience necessary to take the Company forward in the medical cannabis industry. His extensive sales experience in building national organizations will serve the Company well as it seeks to grow in its new industry.
Richard K. Pertile – Acacia’s CEO and Chairman
Since 2013 until January 15, 2016 Mr. Pertile served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Marij Agricultural, Inc. He founded JR Cannabis Industries, Canna-Tags, and Canna-Cures R&D in Clearwater Florida where he began building a medical cannabis consortium.
Born, raised and educated in the Chicago area, he successfully operated his own restaurants, hotel and nightclub. Relocating to Pinellas County, Florida in 1989, Mr. Pertile joined Cornerstone Marketing of America, a subsidiary of United Insurance Companies, quickly being promoted to Executive Vice-President with responsibility for building its nationwide outside sales team. By the end of 2003, Mr. Pertile achieved year-over-year compounded growth of 30%, generating more than $1 billion in sales through 8,000 independent contractors in 40 states. After retiring in 2004, he turned his attention to philanthropy work in helping build a workout facility with the Juvenile Protection Services Program of Florida. From 2006 to 2010, after re-entering the business sector, he became President and Chief Marketing Officer of Independent Producers of America, a small Texas corporation he lead to becoming a publicly traded company on the Nasdaq Exchange.
Again turning his attention to philanthropies in 2010, he formed the Pertile Family Foundation and was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Tampa Chapter of the American Diabetes Association where he concentrated his fundraising activities. Mr. Pertile earned degrees in Business Management and Wastewater Engineering from the College of Lake County, Illinois, and trained under such recognized business leaders as Zig Ziglar, Dr. David Cook, Dr. Rick Jernigan, Brian Flanagan, and Brian Tracy.
Mr. Pertile resides in Florida with his wife of 27 years, Debbie. They have two sons, ages 24 and 20, both residing in Florida
Kim Edwards – Chief Operations Officer / Vice President
Born and raised in the Boston area, moved to Sarasota, Florida where she graduated from Riverview High School. After graduation, she moved back to Boston to pursue a career in banking. Her banking career turned into and investment career and she found herself back in Florida. She was offered a position in Resource and Financial Management, managing advisory services for an independent financial firm. She also assisted in the identification and implementation of financial management strategies to capture cost improvement opportunities while impacting bottom line profits. It was during this time that she married her husband of now 25 years, blessed with three beautiful children. She has always believed in a natural, holistic lifestyle, living with the earth instead of agaisnt it. Her beliefs in natural medicines to support the body to help heal itself led her on a very sacred path across the world. She went to massage school and has been a Reiki Master for over 22 years. During this time, she had been researching the marijuana culture and the beginnings of the marijuana policy reform movement that was slowly happening around our country. She opened, owned and operated retail businesses in Florida. She demonstrated success in developing and leading strategic branding and product initiatives to achieve short and long term financial goals to enhance brand positioning. She has exceptional negotiation, collaboration and communication skills, understanding the customer’s needs, interpret and execute creative, emotionally compelling trend right assortment thru product design and development. She has shown equally strong performance in new business development, growth and diversification . She was offered and accepted the position of Director with a marketing and healthcare organization. Her commitment to developing a strong framework for the safe and regulated environment, by creating excellent customer experiences and utilizing integrated marketing. Her current position with Marij is to expand and advocate for fundamental freedoms to medicate or consume cannabis medicine, and to bring a more holtistic, compassionate touch to everyone that may benefit from medical cannabis.
Mr. Pertile believes the timing is right to send the Company to new heights in the medical cannibis industry. The Company believes that it is perfectly poised to take advantage of those opportunities and will begin its efforts to fund those growth plans beginning in March of 2016.
